## Think Through Math: Online Math Differentiation System

See Blog Update! -- > **What's New in 2016 for Think Through Math?**

Students in grades 3-5 have begun using

**'Think Through Math'**which is an adaptive online mathematics learning system, made available by the Texas state-funded

**Texassuccess.org**initiative. Kids can access TTM both during and after the school-day since it is completely online and available 24/7. Already students are logging after-school and weekend minutes of use, and it always 'remembers' to pick up where students leave off last within their personalized learning pathway.

As with **Istation** for literacy development, students are receiving a **constant stream of immediate feedback**, both positive and corrective, that recognizes and reinforces successful efforts and prompts re-thinking where needed. As Grant Wiggins** **points out, "... learners need endless feedback more than they need endless teaching." I think it is this intensive 'feedback loop' that will be instrumental in strengthening students' math skills & strategies for problem-solving.

An initial TTM placement test has determined a baseline for its adaptive personalized math instruction targeting and accelerating learning toward **mastery of grade-level standards **and beyond. It is constantly collecting data and adjusting to individuals' needs over time to drive progress forward. TTM-generated data also feeds back into daily math instruction by tracking students' ongoing work on the range of math objectives for teachers.

Students also have access to LIVE instructional support in the form of online 'coaches' at points of need when confused--and these are certified math teachers. TTM also motivates kids with engaging features--like customizeable avatars, points earned and displayed on class & state leaderboards, badges, contests, and opportunities to donate to charities.

More on these motivational aspects and TTM lesson sequence features to come...
